Wartime and civilian mates VX13089 James Kemp, SX17638 Willliam Lithgow and NX32658 Phil Curry at a Canberra reunion in 1975. Jim Kemp, a 2/33rd original, was commissioned in the fieldurng the Kokoda campaign. Both he and Phil Curry became captains before the invasion of Balikpapan, where Phil was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry

2/33rd Battalion Member NX22378 Reg “Possum” Goodger (left) with his brother Charles, who won a Military Cross serving with the 5th Division. They were two of 12 children who were raised at Ulmarra, near Grafton.
